Happy reading🤍!!!!
The chaos was too quiet for a wedding house .
Lights glowed from every corner, laughter echoed faintly somewhere far away, yet the corridor outside the room lay eerily still, as if it knew something no one else did.
Everything was ready.
Everyone was ready.
The nikah time was announced.
The door to the bridal room stood closed.
Inside, the bride should have been waiting.
Footsteps approached.
Measured. Steady. Unhurried.
The door opened.
The room was empty.
Not disturbed.
Not chaotic.
Just… empty.
Then his gaze landed on the empty space where she should have been.
The stillness cracked.
The bridal lehenga lay on the bed, half-adjusted, its heavy embroidery catching the light like it was mocking him. Bangles rested beside it. Jewellery untouched. A veil slipped carelessly over the edge of the mattress, abandoned mid-promise. The air still carried her perfume, soft, familiar, proof that she had been here.
Just not anymore.
He stopped at the threshold.
For a moment, his mind refused to accept what his eyes were showing him.
This wasn’t possible.
She wouldn’t.
She couldn’t.
His gaze moved slowly, scanning every corner, as if the room itself might correct the mistake. As if she’d step out and prove this was all some misunderstanding.
Silence answered him.
His jaw tightened. The faintest twitch betrayed him before his face went completely blank.
She had run.
For a few seconds, he didn’t move.
This wasn’t something he had prepared for.
Not something he had doubted.
Security was tight.
Decisions were final.
People stayed.
She wasn’t supposed to leave.
The disbelief faded.
A muscle in his cheek flexed.
Outside, wedding lights continued to glow. Guests laughed. Someone called out for the bride.
Inside the room, something irreversible settled in his chest.
This wasn’t fear.
This was insult.
And somewhere between clenched fists and steady breaths, a promise formed.
Just a tight, dangerous stillness.
Her quiet escape slapped him louder than any rebellion ever could.
She could run.
But, she wouldn’t stay gone.
